Going to class is surely a boring routine to go through especially when you have to do it everyday. There is no doubt that at one point or another before you step out of home to head to school, you have anticipated or even wondered what the lectures will be like. However, there are ways for you to make the most out of class. Lectures are not there just for the heck of it, they are present as part and parcel of our learning. Either way, we have no choice but to go through it if we expect to see ourselves worthy of a bright future.
First and foremost, think on the bright side. Professors prepare their lessons entirely in a different manner as when they were in our shoes. They have learned it and known when they were still a student just how boring a lecture can be. They prepare their subjects in a way they know that only the important points and useful information contain in them. Think that this information is your tools that you will need to complete your degree. Consider it as a stepping stone to achieve your goals in life. The most important thing to make the best out of your class will be to listen.
Before you go to school, try to anticipate and plan ahead what to expect during your lecture. To do this, you need to know what sort of stuff your professor will be talking about. Usually they will tell you the day before what chapter you will be going to discuss the next day. Once you know this, it will be easier to focus on the task at hand. Always look at the other side of the coin. Personally, I have wondered why I should get algebra when my course is medical technology. Then it hits me suddenly when I advanced to higher level of learning that algebra is a basic foundation especially in calculations of the unknown.
During lectures, pay attention to details. Usually all the important details are not written on books or being handed down on notes. They usually come out during the peak of discussion where the professor will emphasize their importance. Do not just pay attention; you also need to understand the whole concept of the idea. Understand all the key points being mentioned during your lectures and you are now off to a good studying start.
After lectures, do not just leave all information within the classroom. Get out there and map things out like branches and networks. Work out your memory and write out everything that you remember during the lecture and move the plant from there. Once you write out your ideas, it will be better to pick out which is the most important and the least important. Oftentimes, this will aid you in understanding the whole picture.
Write down the questions that will surely pop out of your head during the study process because more often than not, the answer lies on the lecture.
