Herbal teas, also known as tisanes, are infusions made from plants' leaves, flowers, seeds, fruit, roots, or other plant parts. Even though they are called herbal "teas" they do not come from the tea plant. Some comercially made tisanes do contain real tea leaves, though. Herbal teas are becoming very popular because of their good taste and their many medical benefits.

Peppermint tea: Reduces flatulence and aids digestion.

Rooibos tea: This tea is known for its good taste and its high content in antioxidants. It is also a natural antihistamine, so it is very useful to relieve allergies.

Raspberry leaf tea: It has been said that raspberry tea helps to prevent miscarriage, ease labor, and enhance the production of breastmilk. However, always consult with your doctor before using this or any product during pregnancy or while lactating. This tea also relieves diarrhea and detoxifies the body.

Lemon grass tea: Aids digestion, relieves arthritic pain, improves mood, and reduces fevers.

Echinacea tea: Fights colds and flu. It has hormonal, antioxidant, and antiviral effects.

Ready-made herbal teabags are available in health food stores and supermarkets. Just steep the teabag in a cup of hot water for a few minutes, and take a minute to relax and enjoy!
